KPIs matter when running a business or a race

HR Team was out in force to cheer on Managing Partner Breda Cullen as she took on the Waterside Half Marathon, posting an impressive personal best.

Not only did Breda eat up the scenic Derry-Londonderry run course much quicker than last year, she completed the 13.2 mile run almost 13 minutes faster than she did in 2014.

It will come as no surprise that Breda didn’t simply turn up on the day to see what happens. Unfortunately for everyone who strives to achieve personal bests in sport that’s not the way it works.

To achieve such improvements in performance - whether you’re an elite athlete or someone who continually aims to raise your own bar - you must start by setting a clear goal.

This is equally true when running a business. If there are no goals, then there can be no concrete planning and that ultimately leads to a business falling short of its potential.  Setting goals - or key performance indicators as they are commonly known-  is a vital factor in good performance management in the workplace.

July HR Team update

July has been an extremely productive month for HR Team.

We have hosted 5 professional seminars including four interactive sessions focusing on absenteeism and performance management and we have been rewarded with a great level of enthusiasm, engagement and participation from employers across the North West. These sessions have proved to be particularly popular with businesses who want to remain cost efficient, and organisations who do not have the time or resources to hire designated HR managers.

Additionally, we have worked in conjunction with Skillnet to promote the professional up-skilling of managers and business owners across Donegal. Further collaborations have taken place between ourselves and the Northern Ireland Science park , the Donegal Business Network and the Foyle Business Network. These interactions have taken place regarding our consultation on various elements of employment law and performance management. 

Productive meetings regarding further expansion have also taken place this week. As the organisation continues to grow from strength to strength, the impending recruitment of new staff is fast approaching the horizon.

Furthermore, we have successfully secured several new clients whose diversity ranges from organisations in the engineering and IT sector, to world famous hoteliers. 

As we advance towards the end of the month we have lots more events and seminars organised throughout Northern Ireland, the UK and the Republic of Ireland. This makes us particularly unique as we are able to offer expert advice across all three jurisdictions unlike the large majority of our competitors.
